According to CTVM.info, the Cinéma Québécois Website" succeeds in achieving effective and dynamic multi-platform integration of a television series and a Website. The Cinéma Québécois Website provides a natural, sustainable extension of the series to the Internet through the creation of value-added Web content related to the series, thus creating a forum where film buffs can exchange their thoughts and prolong the television viewing experience. The Website was produced by Eurêka! Productions with the support of the Bell Fund, the Quebecor Fund and Téléquébec. It was built by Turbulent and Productions Version 10 . Turbulent and Version 10, in association with with Philippe Corriveau (Tofubox ) and Sophie Malouin, handled artistic and conceptual direction for the project. Turbulent Gives Mira a New Website for Christmas Montreal, December 14, 2008. The new Mira Website, built by Turbulent in a collaborative effort with the Mira Foundation, went on line today. The Website offers information on the foundation, its services and its dogs and provides a platform for online giving. The idea of a new Website for the foundation arose with the advancement of video technology for the Web. As the Mira Foundation has been archiving all of its activity for years, Turbulent seized the opportunity to enrich content of the Website by adding a video section called Mira TV. In this new section, Web surfers can view videos on dog training, orientation sessions for beneficiaries with dogs and fundraising activities. The Bell Fund Backs Development of the project J'ai la Mémoire Qui Tourne Montreal, November 25, 2008. The Bell Fund has confirmed its involvement in the projet J'ai la Mémoire Qui Tourne co-produced by Turbulent and Les Productions de la Ruelle. J'ai la Mémoire Qui Tourne will be launched in September 2009. Turbulent has enthusiastically joined forces with Le Regroupement des producteurs multimédia (RPM) and the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma to present a half-day symposium and retreat on the current state of interactive media, to be held on October 16th in Montreal (see invitation). Montreal, 3 October 2008. Turbulent is especially proud to announce that, for the fourth year running, we will be a sponsor of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma. Emilie Grégoire, a delegate producer at Turbulent will be visiting Japan, Vanuatu, Tonga and New Zealand on board the Japanese cruise ship Nippon Maru with over 400 other youngsters from all over the world. The Beta version of Who We Are/Qui sommes nous was launched during the Toronto Hot Docs festival. From one culture to another, Whoweare.ca invites you to take a fresh look at the men and women who compose the cultural mosaic of Canada. The Toc Toc Doc Website is being developed from the Canal Vie portal of Astral Media. The project includes a personal or family health calendar, video health blurbs, information files and references, home recipes, advice for finding one's way through the Medicare system, interactive quizzes, tests and news bulletins. The project will be produced by La Presse Télé and broadcast by Astral Media. Turbulent will act as delegate producer and technical contractor. Montreal, 26 March 2008. During their annual general assembly, the members of the Regroupement des producteurs multimédia (RPM) elected Marc Beaudet as their new president. The RPM will henceforth emphasize recognition of multimedia production as an industry in its own right. In this context, the RPM will endeavour to gain recognition for the economic added value and the aspirations of multimedia producers, whether their activity entails content production for orders, convergence or original content on new platforms. Having received many awards and prizes since its inception, The CitySPK Web project— co-produced by Turbulent Media and Kung Fu Numerik —will soon be broadcast on a major scale by MSN Sympatico, who will be launching the project exclusively in Canada from its portal. The innovative messaging concept, with typography made up of fragments of images of cities around the world, had previously obtained another important source of financing in Telefilm Canada who backed development and production of the project. Yes indeed, dance and music lovers can now submit their homemade videos to Etoiles.tv. Inspired by the thematic content of Le match des étoiles and l'Heure de gloire, Radio-Canada.ca is now offering etoiles.tv, the first French-language Website entirely dedicated to dance and vocal performance—and you're the star! Visitors to etoiles.tv can view and share videos, vote for their favourite presentations and upload their own videos, which may then make it to the list of outstanding videos. The etoiles.tv Website was produced by La Presse Télé and built by Turbulent Média Inc., with financial support from the Bell Fund. Hexagram revamps Website illustrations Montreal, 5 September 2007. The Hexagram research institute took advantage of the general assembly, held on August 30th, to inaugurate their new Website. Six years after its inception, Hexagram needed to give more space to the projects of their member researchers to reflect the way the organization's mission had evolved. Photographs and videos illustrate project descriptions, and visitors to the Website now have access to information on rounds of financing and to the list of projects in the costing phase. The "Aidez-moi à payer mes études", produced in partnership with Jacques Hurtubise, Turbulent Média and the advertising agency Les Évadés, was able to raise more than $20,000 in less than a year. The advertising visuals, featuring a puppy who dreams of becoming a guide dog, routes Web surfers to a micro-Website where they can make online donations. The campaign obtained promotional backing from Benoît Chiasson, of the online daily Cyberpresse and from Jean Rodrigue, of the TQS Network. CitySpk is a unique Web 2.0 messaging concept whereby messages are composed in a typeface made up of pieces of the world`s great cities. Born out of a close collaborative effort by Turbulent Média, Kung Fu Numerik, Matt Donnelly and Furaxe, CitySpk will provide a platform for sending virtual cards created from some 15,000 letters and symbols include in a database that brings together images from a score of cities in America and Europe. The Website is made up of 1450 film clips, 350 clips of interviews with craftspeople, a quiz with 1000 questions, a trade guide presented by experienced film professionals and a film glossary. The Website is produced by Eurêka! Productions with the support of the Bell Fund, the Quebecor Fund and Télé-Québec. It was built by Turbulent Média and Productions Version 10. Contact TV II (2006, 2007 and 2008) ![]() The essential complement to the television series, the Contact Website shines the spotlight on the world of the show's guest creators, emphasizing the intelligence of words, sound, video and, naturally interactivity. The second version of the Website was designed and produced by Contact TV in a collaborative effort, with Turbulent handling technical production. Sedna.tv (2007 and 2008) ![]() Produced by Glacialis and Turbulent. During the Antarctic mission led by Jean Lemire aboard the Sedna IV sailing vessel, a tremendous interactive experience brought together 900,000 Web surfers. Daily logs, videoconferences in the schools, photographs, videos. Sedna.tv is carrying on with the mission, having become the home port of all of the video content that has flowed out of the mission while also hosting original content. Sedna.tv, then, relays information on the feature-length film, Le dernier continent (The Last Continent), on the three scientific documentaries broadcast on Découverte and on the series Aventures du Sedna (the life of the crew during the mission), coming soon on RDI. Sedna.tv is built around three spaces. On the one hand, Webcasts are each made up of three capsules: Rencontre, Reportage vert and Carnet de voyage. Fric Show (2007) ![]() Productions Virage and Turbulent Media have joined forces to produce an all new Website for the Fric Show. The Fric-Show is a veritable circus of excessive consumerism, but that doesn't mean nothing's free! Indeed, content is not simply a concoction made up of leftover scraps. The Website provides a remarkable amount of additional food for thought, to complement the fare provided during the weekly program. Rumeurs (2007) ![]() Rumeurs is a women's magazine designed entirely in Flash. Produced by Radio Canada and sponsored by Les Fromages d'Ici. Artistic oversight was handled by Furaxe. Ullumi (2007) ![]() Produced by Films de l'Isle and Turbulent, ULLUMI offers an original experience of sight and sounds. Web surfers are carried away to the heart of the Great White North, amongst the inhabitants of Quebec's arctic and sub-arctic territories through a series of remarkable virtual tours in Flash. Ullumi is an immersive Website that offers an experience that is midway between photojournalism and film in which the documentary genre meets the language of interactivity. RCI Viva (2006) ![]() RCI viva offers Web radio broadcasts of programming not only in English and French, but also in Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian. This project, which was developed in Flash 8.0 and deployed on a Flash server, was conceived and produced by the new media department at Radio-Canada, with Turbulent handling technical production and Furaxe providing artistic oversight. Marie-Antoinette (2006) ![]() Get a behind-the-scenes look at a revolutionary film and the universe of the elite classes of Quebec and Versailles in the 18th century. This project was co-produced by Télé-Québec's new media department and Turbulent. The Les Évadés agency handled artistic oversight for the project. Mission Antarctique (2005-2006) ![]() The Website followed along as the oceanographic vessel Sedna IV undertook the most important scientific and filmmaking mission of her career. Throughout an incredible human adventure that took place over more than a year, the public was invited to follow along with the expedition to share in and gain an understanding of the Sedna's mission. Turbulent also handled run-up of satellite communication equipment. The Antarctic Mission Website is a co-production of Glacialis and Turbulent. Contact TV (2006) ![]() The Contact TV Website provides an essential complement to the television series, opening up the universe of guest creators with a focus on depth of words, images, sound, video and interactivity. Website designed and produced by Contact TV, with Turbulent collaborating on technical production and Mr Edgar handling artistic oversight. Thanks to our technical partner Quantik Solutions for their contribution to the project. InukSite (www.inuksite.com) (2005) ![]() Produced by POP6, Turbulent acts as delegate producer, and our partner firm Tofubox as director. Inuksite offers kids aged 4 to 7 an immersive experience with measured intervention by Inuk, the guide. Having Inuk as a host makes for child-friendly, entirely voice-guided navigation through the Website. The Website branches out into story-journeys through which the educational and societal values of the television series are conveyed. At the crux of these webisodes, problem-solving skills are featured through interactive decision-making processes. For many children, Inuksite will be their first Web experience. www.anamorphoses.com (2003) ![]() Created and developed on the basis of an idea by Robert Lepage, Anamorphoses set out to be an interactive journey of cinematographic creation. This Website includes an online film-editing application that has yet to be produce anywhere else on the Web. Around the World in 60 Days is a Website where Web users can learn about wines from all over the world through an interactive Papervision3D. Un verre de lait c'est bien, mais deux c'est mieux (2007) ![]() Produced and conceived by BBDO Montréal, with Turbulent handling technical direction. "Un verre de lait c'est bien, mais deux c'est mieux" is a Website where Web surfers can share their memorable moments. The stories that the judges find interesting will be included in an interactive book that visitors can check out on site. Turbulent worked in association with Kung fu Numerik on development of this project. e-commerce Audiogram Virtual Store (2008) Produced by Audiogram with Turbulent handling strategy, project oversight and technical production, and Les Évadés handling artistic direction. The Audiogram virtual store offers visitors over 2400 tunes and albums in MP3 and .wav format. Shoppers can save items in a shopping basket and thus enjoy unlimited personal downloading. Turbulent also embedded the Optimal Payment online payment system. Le Lait Virtual Store (2008) ![]() Produced and Designed by BBDO Montréal with Turbulent handling technical production and integration. At the Le Lait virtual store, shoppers can purchase Le Lait promotional articles. Webware GPHIN (Global Public Health Intelligence Network) for Nstein technologies and Health Canada (2004) ![]() The mission of the GPHIN platform is to monitor, gather and disseminate all pertinent information to the international public healthcare community. The technology provided by Nstein Technlogies is at the heart of a 24/7 monitoring system that analyzes, gathers pertinent health-related information, translates this information into six languages in real time (English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Arabic), then disseminates the information to the worldwide public healthcare community. Turbulent carried out this project with the collaboration of Typhon Solutions. Turbulent developed the software module combining the technology of Nstein Technlogies with that of Microsoft Sharepoint 2003. Turbulent also took part in development, interface design and HTML/ASP integration. Mandate carried out under the supervision of Nstein Technlogies. Hosting infrastructure for high-traffic Websites LoftStory.ca (2003) ![]() Administration of the highly-solicited server farm for the television series Loft Story. We were given the task of improving the hosting infrastructure along with a portion of the content-management software, the purpose of this being to increase the system's capacity to meet demand. The revamped infrastructure then included six Web servers running on FreeBSD and Apache, two database servers running on MySQL and 25 servers running on Windows Server 2003 to handle broadcast of the streaming video signal. When we were done, the hosting infrastructure was available at a rate of 99.5% for the three months during which the program was on the air. Information portals Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (2005-06-07-08 editions) ![]() Produced in a collaborative effort with FNC staff, with Cundari handling artistic direction. Turbulent handled project management, technical development and project integration. On the FNC Website, festival-goers can consult the complete festival program, build their own personal calendar (Mon FNC) and view previews of films being shown at the festival. Avataq Cultural Institute (2007–2008)
The Avataq Cultural Institute Website provides access to the largest collection of art and first-person testimonials on the culture of Nunavik. Several collections—museum, archaeological and documentary— are presented. Through these collections, the richness and heritage of an entire people are made available to members of the public who are curious to learn more about a civilization and tradition from Quebec's Far North. The Website will make its contribution to Avataq mission to ensure that the Innu language and culture continue to blossom, so that future generations may benefit from the rich heritage handed down by our eminently wise ancestors. The Website is a production of Turbulent with Tofubox handling artistic direction. Laval Health and Social Services Agency (2008) ![]() Turbulent overhauled the portal for the Laval Agence de santé et des services sociaux and the Website 0-5-30laval.com. The Laval Agence de la santé et des services sociaux handles the job of coordinating and setting up health and social services for the Laval region. Readers Digest Canada (2008) ![]() Produced by Readers Digest Canada with Turbulent acting as a strategy consultant and handling technical production and Furaxe handling artistic direction. The new Website for Readers Digest Canada offers a new organization of its content along with a refurbished graphical format. Several features were also added to the content manager and to back-end technology. NTIC.org (2007) ![]() The ntic.org Website (Vitrine Technologie-Éducation) presents information in three areas of interest for educators: research and technological watch in the field of education; enrichment of the educational treasury, and support for learning establishments. Turbulent handled the Website's background technology and integration. Corporate Websites Avanti (2008) ![]() Avanti Ciné Vidéo presents its new Website, made in the image of their aspirations for innovation and entertainment. You can browse through television archives and the array of stage productions to discover or rediscover the company's enormous catalogue. Moreover, the Website facilitates access to the various services offered by Avanti, such as distribution of formats and DVDs, project submissions and the purchase of archives. The Website is a Turbulent production, with Furaxe handling artistic direction. Xiplink (2008) ![]() Promotional Website for XipLink, a leader in standardized IP protocol acceleration technology on wireless networks on their broadband communication platform for private jets and jetliners. The assignment included project management and development of the Website as well as integration of the content-management tool. Hexagram (2007) ![]() The new Hexagram Website does a better job of showcasing the projects and activities of the Institute's member researchers right from the home page. High quality photos and videos provide visual aids to the descriptions of each project. To carry out this project, Turbulent worked in association with Stéphan Denis (Furaxe) on artistic direction and Akemi Tazaki (Skimo) on communication strategies. Jetfilms (www.jetfilms.com) (2006 et 2007) ![]() Promotional Website for one of Canada's foremost advertising producers. The Website was produced with Flash MX. Content management is entirely dynamic. The mandate included project management, system architecture, programming components, developing the content management tool, server configuration and related services, as well as digitization and compression of video content. Thanks to Francisco for his assistance with site design. Interactive terminals S.I.T.Q. Place Ville-Marie (2006) ![]() A system of interactive terminals in the form of information kiosks for the shopping centre and office towers of Place Ville-Marie. The system includes nine terminals deployed with a central server and content manager. The system was carried out in Flash and Action Script 2.0.
